Item Description | This tenugui features an inkjet print, with the design lightly permeating through to the reverse side. The ukiyo-e motif of "Red Fuji" depicts Mount Fuji, which usually appears bluish, turning a vivid red during the early mornings from late summer to early autumn. This natural phenomenon occurs when the rising sun, clouds, and mist combine to cast a warm crimson glow over the mountain. Hokusai's celebrated print, "Fine Wind, Clear Morning" (Gaifū Kaisei), captures this breathtaking moment. The striking composition and brilliant red tones of Mount Fuji have led to the nickname "Aka Fuji" (Red Fuji). Admired for its beauty, bold use of color, and masterful design, this work continues to captivate viewers around the world and stands as one of the most beloved images in Japanese art history. Notes - As this is a handmade product, slight variations in size may occur. - Due to the nature of the dye, some changes in color and slight bleeding may appear. Please enjoy these as part of the charm of hand-dyed items. - Colors may transfer if exposed to water, sweat, etc. Please wash separately. - When ironing, use a low temperature and place a cloth over the fabric. - Traditionally, both edges of a tenugui are left unfinished to allow faster drying and for hygiene purposes. With use and washing, the fabric naturally tightens, and any fraying will stop after a few millimeters. |
