Item Description | This tenugui features an inkjet print, with the design lightly permeating through to the reverse side. "Ukiyo-e Velour Beauty" refers to a distinctive style of ukiyo-e that flourished from the Edo period through the Meiji period. This style features works portraying women known as "Velour Beauties". The term originates from depictions of women adorned in velour (velvet) garments and accessories, a luxurious material introduced from Europe. These artworks beautifully blend the refined aesthetics of Japanese tradition with the elegance and opulence of Western influence. The models were often geisha, courtesans, or fashionable townswomen, depicted in glamorous attire. Their gestures and expressions radiate sophistication and allure, capturing a sense of sensual beauty that continues to fascinate viewers today. Notes - As this is a handmade product, slight variations in size may occur. - Due to the nature of the dye, some changes in color and slight bleeding may appear. Please enjoy these as part of the charm of hand-dyed items. - Colors may transfer if exposed to water, sweat, etc. Please wash separately. - When ironing, use a low temperature and place a cloth over the fabric. - Traditionally, both edges of a tenugui are left unfinished to allow faster drying and for hygiene purposes. With use and washing, the fabric naturally tightens, and any fraying will stop after a few millimeters. |
