description Product Description
The "Foil-Stamped Tenugui" is created using golden aluminum foil that is dyed directly into the fabric. The foil does not peel off even after washing, making it practical for everyday use as a tenugui. Because the gold remains intact—symbolizing that "wealth will not fade away"—it is regarded as highly auspicious. This item can be enjoyed as a lucky charm, displayed as decoration, or presented as a thoughtful souvenir or gift.
The design features a Daruma face, where the eyebrows are shaped like cranes and the mustache like a turtle. In Japanese tradition, cranes and turtles are both symbols of longevity and good fortune, expressed in the proverb "Cranes live a thousand years, turtles live ten thousand." Together with the Daruma—a symbol of perseverance and luck—this design embodies powerful blessings for prosperity and long life.
The dye penetrates lightly through to the reverse side, ensuring a refined finish on both sides.
Design Name: Lucky Daruma
Notes
- As this is a handmade product, slight variations in size may occur.
- Due to the nature of the dye, some changes in color and slight bleeding may appear. Please enjoy these as part of the charm of hand-dyed items.
- Colors may transfer if exposed to water, sweat, etc. Please wash separately.
- When ironing, use a low temperature and place a cloth over the fabric.
- Traditionally, both edges of a tenugui are left unfinished to allow faster drying and for hygiene purposes. With use and washing, the fabric naturally tightens, and any fraying will stop after a few millimeters.
