description Product Description
This tenugui features an aluminum gold foil print, with the design lightly penetrating through to the reverse side. The gold foil is dyed directly into the fabric, ensuring that it does not peel or wash off. Because of this durability, it can be used as a regular tenugui, while also being cherished as an auspicious item—often displayed for good fortune, or given as a thoughtful gift or souvenir.
The design highlights the dragon, a creature long revered in Chinese culture as a symbol of power, prosperity, and good fortune. The image of a dragon soaring high into the sky represents rising fortune and strong luck, carrying with it the belief that one will never be troubled by money and will enjoy continuous success.
The pattern penetrates lightly to the back side, maintaining a refined finish.
Notes
- As this is a handmade product, slight variations in size may occur.
- Due to the nature of the dye, some changes in color and slight bleeding may appear. Please enjoy these as part of the charm of hand-dyed items.
- Colors may transfer if exposed to water, sweat, etc. Please wash separately.
- When ironing, use a low temperature and place a cloth over the fabric.
- Traditionally, both edges of a tenugui are left unfinished to allow faster drying and for hygiene purposes. With use and washing, the fabric naturally tightens, and any fraying will stop after a few millimeters.
- When ironing, to avoid damaging the gold foil, always use a press cloth and set the iron to low temperature (80–120°C / 176–248°F).
- Handwashing separately is recommended to preserve the quality of the fabric and foil.
